Description:
Supply solar home system (SHS) components

NuRa has been commissioned to install 4000 solar home systems by March 2011 in Northern Kwazulu and through a tendering process, NuRa is seeking suitable suppliers to express their interest to supply solar home system (SHS) components in line or better than the terms stated below. The tendering process is open to all entities or registered business persons who have the capacity to trade and supply the products required as stipulated herein. The key attributes are product specs, quality, delivery lead times, after-service, price and payment terms. The value chain process is intended to operate on a "just in time basis". In essence, the stock policy is planned to maintain zero stock at all times. Therefore, the opportunity cost is huge in the event of failure to supply the right product on time. This may have a detrimental effect on business performance. All the required attributes are interlinked and rank equally in terms of importance and collectively the impact thereof on the bottom figure cannot be underscored.

SHS components or products for which supply is sought herein are: Solar (PV) Modules, Lamps, Batteries, Switches and Inverters.

Nature of persons tendering:

The persons tendering must be registered properly with the Registrar (CIPRO). The entities are required to submit the following documents:

  • CM29 / CK1
  • Tax clearance certificate
  • Company profile
  • Certificate of incorporation
  • Articles of association
  • Memorandum of association
  • BBBEE Accreditation Certificate (favourable consideration)

    Delivery Terms:

The appointed supplier is expected to deliver within 30 days from the date of receiving an official NuRa purchase order. Suppliers with short lead times shall receive favourable consideration, notwithstanding product attributes. Furthermore, preference shall be given to suppliers who shall deliver at the NuRa warehouse premises at Ithala Mini Factories, Falcon Street, Mkuze, 3965.

    Price:

The prices of the products will be benchmarked against import parity, manufacturer prices and the current price regime afforded by our traditional or repeat suppliers. A rigorous approach will be taken to scrutinize and ensure that price plays a dorminant part in the supplier selection process. This will obviously not undermine the other attributes such as quality, lead times and so forth.

    Payment:

Payment will be on cash on delivery basis (COD). Preference will be given to suppliers who are agreeable to extending at least 30 day terms from the date of invoice and or delivery, whichever is later.
